National Finals Rodeo

In my childhood dreams, I always portrayed myself as a cowboy, riding strong bulls by their horns. There was something special about them, that I just couldn’t get better off. When I was a young boy, I used to go the theme parks and ride the dummy bulls for hours. Slowly but surely I was able to learn some tricks to ride the dummy’s back. The cow bow fever had swallowed me in it and it was  under the immense pressure of this cow boy fever,  that my dad used to take me to rodeo events.

In person, I last attended the National Finals Rodeo back in 1998 when Ty Murray won his seventh world all round title breaking the record of six world titles by Larry Mahan , Murray and Tom Ferguson. It was a special occasion for him and he made it special for us as well. He rode the bull with unparallel determination and aggression. Fortunately I had the best Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tickets, sitting about half way up at the roping end balcony. We had complete view of the finals and I even managed to get the autograph of Ty Murray. That was the best moment of my life. Ever since, I have followed NFR on television.

I never became a cowboy but the cowboy fever is still within me and I am planning to go for NFR this year. I just can’t wait to relive those special moments again.
