As I visited Airtel.in today to check my online account, I was shocked to see what Airtel had to offer its customers. It was a shocking Broadband plan @ 4Mbps and guess what it had unlimited downloads as well at a price tag of Rs 899. I could not believe this as I would have been the first one to apply for the same connection.
Have a look at the advertisement.
By this image you would think about unlimited downloads and no catch as well, but when the price is low then you should look for a * Mark and small Conditions Apply in the plans mentioned.
Have a look at this image of their tariffs and see what Airtel is offering at the price
Basically they are offering you a 256kbps plan and a temporary booster of 4Mbps. Can you imagine having a 6GB cap at 4Mbps, I mean to say that @4Mbps you could download 1Gb data in approximately 35-45 minutes and your bandwidth would expire in say approximately 3 hours. Although you are given unlimited downloads but then why spend Rs300 more on a 256Kbps plan when you will get demoted to the 256kbps plan. Even in the Rs1099 (Impatience 1099) plan, you get 12Gb of download limit at 4Mbps which can expire in 8-9 hours depending upon your use then you are back to 256Kbps plan.
I do not mean to say that you should not choose these plans but choose wisely, at an Indian broadband forum I have seen a user having Airtel Broadband Plan with a limited day plan but with a top of Rs 99 he is experiencing unlimited downloads from 9PM to 9Am daily. I would say that he is wise enough to hang on to the same old plan from last three years.
What would you do then. Same old story come back to life @ 256 Kbps and crappy speeds. These plans are for those people who only check their emails, may be surf websites around one hour daily and do not download stuff like movies, songs, watch videos on Youtube and other websites.
Currently these plans are available in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai only.If you reside in these cities, and are not a download freak then you should opt for these plans.

I live in NCR region but would not take these plans. I am a heavy downloader but one of my friend can take this 1099 plan as he is not a download freak.
I am quite sure that you and you friend must be enjoying Airtel’s Broadband service in NCR region.
Good plans but useful for those who use internet for surfing only.
its all rubbish apart 4rm terms and conditions they should write one more thing ie subjected to technical feasiblity……………… i m living in gurgaon and its not available in my area becoz no feasiblity there i dont understand 4 mbps needs technical feasiblity really a shame on airtel as my friend is using 8 mbps bsnl in same area……………. a suggestion 4 airtel mark every plan with subjected to technical feasiblity……….. becoz their half of the plans are not available hell
@sagar makkar,
Hey Sagar ,
You said it right these plans are subject to technical feasibility, because if your home is around 3kms away from Exchange your DSL speed deteriorates and you are bound to get 2Mbps at max.
This is same case in VDSL2+ in which you need to have your home in maximum 500 mts to get highest speeds. If your home is around 1.5km away then your connection is of no use. You will get the speed of DSL up to 4Mbps only.
I tried myself to get an Airtel Broadband at my home 3 times in last four years, each time they mentioned that we are unable to provide you connection, now when I ask them to provide me 4Mbps connection they say it is not technically feasible for your location. Therefore I am currently on 2Mbps plan.
thanks a lot sir……………………..
means no other alternative than to shift on a 2 mbps plan……
anyways thanks for the knowledge sir
@sagar makkar,
You are very much welcome.
But now they changed fair usage policy for 1099 plan..speed 512kbps or 1 mbps..FUP 512-8gb,1 mbps plan 15gb..i think 256kbps is enough for browsing
