Mac OS X Turns 9 Today

It was March 24 2001 , when Apple Released its Mac OSX which is an operating system.  Today Mac OSX celebrates its 9 th Birthday.  There have been many versions of Mac OSX since then and as you might know  Macintosh or Mac is based on Unix based system.

The versions which I am talking about are as follows.

  • 10.0 Cheetah — March 24, 2001
  • 10.1 Puma — September 25, 2001
  • 10.2 Jaguar — August 24, 2002
  • 10.3 Panther — October 24, 2003
  • 10.4 Tiger — April 29, 2005
  • 10.4 Intel Tiger — January 10, 2006
  • 10.5 Leopard — October 26, 2007
  • 10.6 Snow Leopard — August 28, 2009

On March 24, 2001 Apple effectively ditched OS 9 for the current generation OS that would allow ultimate scalability for the coming decades. Since then, Mac OS X has had seven or eight major versions depending on who you ask. Jobs considered Mac OS X 10.4.4 major version since it was totally rewritten to run on Intel chips.

As most of you know that Apple has manufactured iPhone, iPod and iPad , all these devices have scaled down version of their popular operating system OS X.  Believe it or not.

I wish the Apple to continue as they are growing .
