Get Ready for WordPress 3.0

In the past few years Automattic has made several changes to the code of WordPress and developed it to become the number 1 blogging software released under GPL. I remember using WordPress since the version 1.5. I have seen many changes in WordPress since then. When WordPress 2.3 was released I updated my websites that were running on the old WordPress software. In those days there were no such thing as automatic upgrade which came a bit later as plugin then Automatic Upgrade did the thing which used to take a long time.

Currently WordPress 2.9.2 is in use and available for download at the WordPress site. But today The WordPress Development team released the WordPress 3.0 Beta 1 which means , they are in process of developing the software. WordPress 3.0 Beta 2 will be released after a few days.

Some of the major improvements in WordPress 3.0 are

  1. Custom Menu System ( Same as Woo Themes have developed for their Themes and Thesis is utilizing )
  2. Integration of WordPress and WordPress MU system but will take time.
  3. User Interface has been upgraded as well , like new Icon for Super Admin.
  4. A New Theme named as Twenty Ten, which contains 8 headers .

As soon as I read this news in my Dashboard , I downloaded the beta version and installed it on my development server.

Here are some images that show off WordPress 3.0 Beta 1

I’m so much excited with the launch of Wordpress 3.0. Though since it’s beta release I’ll wait for a while to get the beta 2 and will install it on my live site.
My plan is to put all my Wordpress blogs into one single MU, since I can use one plugin in all the blogs.
This will save lots of resources for my blog.
