How to Check Broadband Connection Speed

Broadband connection speeds have  increased exponentially over the years due to fibre optic connectivity between nations. There was time when India had only option of Dial Up Internet but now a days there are many ISP’s providing high speed internet of up to 50Mbps.

To check your Internet Speed you need to visit different websites like that of your ISP or major speed test servers like Speedtest.net but today I am going to tell you about a desktop application that can pretty much tell you your actual Broadband Internet Speed. The desktop client which I am talking about is ADSL Speed Test 3 , this internet speed testing application can check your broadband connection speed once or multiple time intervals of 5 minute to 60 minutes.

Idle Program waiting for Instructions

The desktop client is very portable at 251Kb only and can be carried along with yourself as well. You can even run this desktop client via USB (Scan your USB with Anti Virus first). I ran the test myself in single mode because I know about my current broadband Internet Speeds. If you want to check your Internet Speed then you can run it in monitoring state as well.

Download Test Being Conducted on my Desktop

As this is a desktop client, you need to run it every time that you need to check your Broadband Internet Test. In my case a file of 10 Mb was downloaded with a speed ranging between 112Kb/s to 134Kb/s

.

Testing Upload Speeds

Uploading speeds are not so good in ADSL connections because of the fact that data is run towards the direction of consumers and not from consumers to ISP at same speed. So, in my case the upload speed ranged from 40Kb/s to 53KB/s which is quite good considering that I can upload 1Mb file in 20 Seconds and around 3Mb file can be uploaded in a minute.

Broadband Test Results for my connection

The Broadband speed test on desktop client were as that of any Internet Speed test taken from Speedtest.net or any other website. In my case it was an average of 114.11Kb/s download speed and 49.53Kb/s upload speed which translates to 912kbps and 396kbps speeds respectively.

Lookup Tests of IP , ISP etc

When you get these results then you can always save the statistics to file or even copy them to clipboard to paste the results in any application or emailing someone. If you want to test your broadband connection regularly then you can use the monitor functionality of this desktop application , hence this application will plot a graph your chosen time and the bandwidth or Internet Connection speed that you are getting.
