We recently reported that WordPress 3.0 is going to debut very soon. After that post there were two beta versions of WordPress 3 which were released by WordPress team so that people can test them and find out any bugs whatsoever in them.
Now there is good news and that is WordPress 3.0 Release Candidate 1 is out for public and people around the world can lay their hands on Release Candidate to find out what differences would be there between current version 2.9.2 and WordPress 3.0.
Some of us do not know what a Release Candidate is ?
So , let me tell that you that before a software is fully launched the creators of the software launch the beta versions to check the functionality and working , and after beta versions comes the release candidate versions which provides a foundation for final launch.
The release of Release Candidate 1 means the final launch of WordPress 3.0 is going to be very soon. Some of the features that have either been added or modified are :
- Custom menus are finished! Yay!
- Multi-site is all set.
- The look of the WordPress admin has been lightened up a little bit, so you can focus more on your content.
- There are a ton of changes, so plugin authors, please test your plugins now, so that if there is a compatibility issue, we can figure it out before the final release.
If you wish to download the release candidate then you can download it from here .

I was waiting for this latest release as I have to put all (almost 7) of my blogs into single MU.
Though to make the big move I will wait wait for final release as rc1 has some known bugs.

I would also be doing the same, as RC 2 has been released, I would be waiting for the latest stable release which would be then Ok to test.
