Nokia has launched four new mobile phones, namely Nokia C1-00, Nokia C2-00, Nokia C1-01, and Nokia C1-02. These are targeted towards the people who look for twin mobile number features in a single mobile phone. With this launch Nokia has officially ventured into Double Sim and Dual Sim phones. Although a bit late but now we can say, “At last Nokia have stepped their legs into Dual-Sim Market”.
In the press conference held on June 3rd in Kenya Nokia Announced these phones. Let’s take a closer look on the phones mentioned
Nokia C1-00
Nokia C1-00 is the first mobile phone from Nokia to come with Double Sim (do not mistake it for dual sim). According to Alex Lambeek Vice President at Nokia
“By simply holding down a key(*), people are able to switch between SIM cards. This enables them to take advantage of reduced call rates, flexibility when traveling from one country to another, or helps with sharing a phone within a family and still use their own SIM”
Nokia C1 runs on a Series-30 interface and promises the maximum standby time of six weeks which is longest ever for a Nokia mobile phone. It also features Standard Flashlight, 500 Phonebook entries, 250 text messages storage capacity, a FM Radio and standard 3.5mm headphone jack. All these features mean that priority of Nokia is to look for convenience as well entertainment for consumers. Nokia C1 is expected to be in the market by the end of quarter 3 this year (2010).
There are two other cheap mobile models namely Nokia C1-01 and Nokia C1-02, they are a bit different because these two mobile phone models will not have double sim feature. These models offer features like GPRS, Bluetooth, micro SD card slot (up to 32GB), 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio and MP3 player. Additionally the Nokia C1-01 comes with a VGA camera as well. These two mobile phones are expected in the last quarter of 2010.
Price : As stated by Nokia the price of Nokia C1 would be 30 Euros before taxes and subsidies which translates to around $37 (yesterday’s US$ vs EUR€ rate) which would mean that if the phone is launched in India it would approximately cost around Rs 1600 or Rs 1700 which is good price for a Double Sim Phone.

If we talk about people in India, they will certainly love the features of this mobile phone model as with this model they can use two SIM Cards i.e. network operators at any given time (Nokia-C1 is Double SIM Phone) but only one will be active, the second SIM could be activated by pressing the (*) Star key on the keypad. I am certainly looking forward for the mobile phone to be launched, would certainly look forward for your response.
