SNAP 2008 Analysis

According to experts SNAP 2008 was easier when compared to SNAP 2007. However the level of General Awareness section was high and Quant section was pretty decent.  So the cut offs are most likely to be few marks less than last year or at best will stay very similar to what they were last year.

The predicted cut offs for SIBM is 80+, SCMHRD is 75 + and SIIB is 70 +.   :)

You have pretty good credentials , IMS have released their cut offs and they are always pretty close to real cut offs.
If I were in your place , I would wait for a few days and see what mentors at TIME have to say . TIME are always spot on with their cut offs and answer keys .If you are scoring above it , I see no reason why you shouldn’t apply . :)

You seem to qualify cut off for SIIB pretty easily. Problem is that the call are issued based on profile of the person and hence it could be a border line issue.

Profile does matter a lot in case of institutes like SCM-HRD and SIIB . I would suggest you to refrain from SCM-HRD unless you have scored above 90 percent in your tenth and board exams or have spectacular achievements.
If you have joined any coaching institute, I would like you to take a second opinion about it .

I think you can safely apply to SIMS and expect a call.
You may get a call from SCIT as well but it is highly likely that it would be for Networks & IT Infrastructure and Information Systems & Security programs . If that is fine with you then go ahead and apply for it .

The thing with CL is that they are certainly not the best when it comes to determining the cut offs. I personally prefer TIME or at best IMS. In fact you would be glad to know that the percentile estimates that TIME released for last year’s CAT were withing 0.5 percentile range of the original CAT percentiles and same was the case with other exams as well.

what are other institutes who takes IRMA’s score ?

Dr.Abhi

Do XIMB considers sectional cutoff & reservation criterias ?

I am very sorry to say that I am don’t know much about this . I would request you to kindly take advice from some reputed coaching institute or better still contact XIMB directly.

As far as IRMA test is concerned , XIMB and IRMA are the only institutes that use this score and last year there was a separate cut off list for SC applicants at IRMA.

In case your percentile score does fall short of the cut offs , focus all your attention on securing a seat at XIMB through XAT .

As per TIME analysis, I may get
Gen Eng -> 12-13
A & Log -> 37
Gen Awa -> 6-7
Q & DI ->20-22

I have 90+ in my X and XII and 82 in my BTech

I am having 18 months of work Experience in a reputed S/W company.

Poor in extra curricular activities.

I am worried about the sectional cut offs.Can you please suggest what colleges do I need to apply so that I may get call from them.

Reply

admin December 24, 2008 at 8:56 pm

90 + in X and XII certainly ensures a call from SCMHRD and XIIB .

With your work experience you can be 99 % sure to get a call from SIBM Pune and Bangalore as well .

Believe me an institute like SIBM would love to have a student like you even if you fall a mark or two short in the sectionals . :)

You can sign up a TCYonline.com and get some practice there .
You can download last year’s XAT paper from the links . Question paper | Answers

Watch this space in the evening . I will get you few more links .

One suggestion that I would personally give you is to join http://www.pagalguy.com . This is an online community where you can put your views in front of thousands of other aspirants and people who have made it to that particular institute.

Hi,
Good going guys…
Thanks for the wonderful consultation you provide.
I read the above posts. So accordingly I can figure out where m standing.
60 + according to TIME.
24 months work ex from top SW Firm.
10 th 83
12 th 65
BE 70
Good in extra curricular activities.
Part of Organization’s social arm and CSR Arm.
Also part of an NGO which is presently working for TOI Teach India.

From the above posts… chances are that I get calls from SCIT, SCMHRD(based on profile.) SIIB and SIOM.
I would apply in SCIT, SIIB, SIOM n SIBM.
My question is which Insts are worth going in. SIBM n SCMHRD are out of this question. M worried abt SIOM n SCIT. What should be done. plz suggest.
Also How is Health Science and SICSR.

All Symbiosis Colleges are pretty good but if you are looking for a solid return of investment , then you must not think beyond the top three.

SNAP score is not the only criteria that SCMHRD uses to issue a call. There are lot more variables that are considered and even if a student is clearing the cut offs comfortably it is always tough to predict that whether he/she will get a call or not.

You have good profile but you are a fresher and may be about 8 or 10 % age short in 10th and 12 th standard marks .

Considering this you are almost sure to get a call from SIIB , but as far as SCMHRD is concerned I am not entirely sure. I would suggest you to take opinion of some reputed coaching institute and then make a descision.

Reply

admin December 25, 2008 at 7:11 am

SCMHRD and SIIB issue calls based on student profile.
If you have a good profile then you should get a call from both.

As far as SIBM Bangalore is concerned , a score of 71 may just be enough to get a call.

At a score of 81 you can safely apply for SIBM and may be even SCMHRD ( Profile based)

You have decent scores in 10th and graduation and these may just get you through SCMHRD

With a score of 54 you can apply for SITM ,SIOM and SCIT

But after looking at your profile my personal opinion : If you have the option of taking up a job , then go for it
I am sure that you can perform better and you deserve better colleges than what you current score would fetch. If you have other exams lined up , concentrate on them .

You have got quite a good SNAP score . You should apply to SIBM Bangalore and SIIB ,

It is not that only engg students make it through good institutes. I will tell you why. If you take the data from all the good management tests over the past 6 or 7 years, the ratio of engg students and normal grad students that took the test has been around 60 :40 and that is exactly the ratio in which they make it through to the institutes. So there is nothing strange in this.

Yes work ex people do get an advantage because they bring experience with them and it is they who most of the time are topping the placement’s chart and they work as a marketing tool for most of the institutes.
