The Way Ahead

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

We have been long experiencing low percentage of people going out to exercise their right to select their legislative representative. Among all factors responsible for this the major factor for this is the major one has to be fear of unwanted violence or nuisance, people creating havoc at the polling booths to assure that their candidate wins and then later on rob people off their hard earned money and not so hard earned money .e-voting.jpg
Standing in 21st century we have already witnessed people using Electronic Voting Machines in order to get safe and fast results but it’s time we take a step forward and go ahead with online voting. Yes online voting has already been tested for television programs and news paper questions and has been very successful. What online voting or e-voting will ensure is greater participation of youth and old in the electoral process which will automatically lead to a more fair and just legislature. What government can do is issue account name and password to people which they can use to login into the site and cast their votes. The greatest benefit of it would be that results will be out as soon as the last vote is cast and we will save valuable human work hours and time. This would definitely be the best use of technology. At least let’s give it a try

Worth of Lost

Friday, March 28th, 2008

It’s been quite a while since I have been pondering upon something and now I would like to have your opinion. The matter is as follows. Last Sunday I lost a mobile which I bought about a year ago for $175. It was my only mobile phone and just because I can’t do without mobile I bought a similar set, however this time the amount I payed was $ 125. Every thing said and done i stand on a similar ground at which i was about an year ago. I have a mobile phone which i had last year as well but I have lost something.iphoneburglar.jpg
So now, I am wondering what my actual loss is. Is it $175 or $ 125? I lost a mobile worth $175 so my loss should be $175. I used it for one year, it was my asset.Yes in this period of one year mobile phone prices have seen a nose dive but that has nothing to do with what I spent last year.
On the other hand I am having a similar model now but it would have been redundant had I not lost my original mobile, so actual loss what I have incurred is $ 125 so my actual loss should be $ 125 and not $175.
This is the mess I am in right now. I don’t know that what should be the worth of lost item, the value of the lost or the value paid to fill in for the vacuum created by the lost item. Some people suggested that my loss would be $300 But they have to consider the fact that either of them was my asset so how come my losses would account for $ 300. Guys please help.

Follow or no follow so what to follow

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

There is a buzz in blogosphere about what to do about Daddy Google’s not counting links that have no follow tags attached with them. The trend in 2005 was that bloggers used to visit others blog and leave valuable comments, this helped both the blogger and the visitor as the blogger used to get visitors while the visitor got the back link which would enhance the Page Rank of his blog. It was not long before spammers knew about this and they started spamming blogs with nothing but tons of links as a comment. Lots of spamming software were developed which would automatically find blogs with high page rank and the spam them. Every day the administrator had to spend time in deleting these comments. As soon as Google learnt about it, it direct Wordpress to add a no follow tag to their software that would help Google in not counting the links that were in comments while determining the page rank.no-follow-2x.gif

Was this method effective, blogging gurus suggest it wasn’t as Google still hasn’t been able to develop a logarithm to eliminate the counting of links in comment. However this fact is still not known to all bloggers and most bloggers have lost their valuable readers and readers have lost the opportunity to get some links that would help the site gain pr and traffic.
Well there is a change visible now, with people removing no follow tags from their blogs and regaining their traffic. It is due to software like akismet that spammers are easily caught and the bloggers can concentrate on what is most important to them- blogging.

Advanced Images and Pictures

Recently there was some problems in my television and when we called up the TV mechanic guy , he diagnosed that it was the IC which was burnt due to voltage fluctuation. He had to take the television motherboard with him and when he took the motherboard with him , we had no clue what so ever he was talking about.

When he came back he told us that some timer IC 555 was burnt and this caused some other IC’s to burn as well. I wanted to see the IC in reality but then Integrated Circuit Photos could have done same thing for me. To know more about ICs and about the electronic parts I searched internet for New Electronic Parts Pictures and Advanced Micro Devices Electronic Part Images. This searching of mine resulted in grabbing a website named as ICPhotos.org which is dedicated to all these electronic parts and images as well. So , as I looked at their website , I was looking at hard to find out electronic parts images. This is what I was searching for a huge database of Electronic parts and images. Now I can proudly say that whenever I need an electronic part I can search IC photos.org and show the electronics guy that I know about the bad IC’s.

Racing in Veins Part 2

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Yes so in my last post I was discussing about the blacklist. Yes there are 15 racers in there who do street racing. And our hero, obviously me here, has to beat them one by one to reach the top and get his ride back. So that is how it is. But first to challenge his opponents he has to fulfill three requirements. First is race wins, each blacklist racer requires challenger to have some race wins, it was 3 for blacklister no 15 and 4 for blacklister no 14.most-wanted1.jpg There are race options to choose from, you can do a sprint race, a checkpoint race or a normal 2-3 lap race.Second requirement to race a blacklister is challenges, yes you have to complete some challenges, it can be anything from avoiding police for a stipulated duration to finishing a race in given time. Third requirement to face a blacklister is bounty, the most interesting part of the race, here you fight against the cops, you have to save yourself from being busted by cops and at the same time you have to keep them interested in you to not leave you very early and you end have a poor pocket, say 100 bounty points. It is important to stretch the duration of bounty because some blacklisters require more than 100 thousand bounty points to race with. Well I started my racing today and I have defeated 2 blacklisters, so 13 to go before I get my ride back

Today I got my hands on NFS most waned, yes a bit late one would say but then again I was looking for something that I wouldn’t have to pay for. My friend bought it last week and so I had my chance to play and I didn’t’ wait a moment to confirm after he offered me the game.need-for-speed-most-wanted.jpg

Well talking about the game, it is a dam good game, the entire story is build around a guy who is new into the city and I driving a BMW, the best in town and the people that do illegal races have an eye on it so they challenge this guy to race against them and he happily agrees but bad guys as usual don’t keep it fair and puncture his engine oil valve so his looses the race midway as his car is damaged and stops.

He is captured by the police and his recent girlfriend Mia gets him out of there and tells him about how to get his ride back. She tells him that the racers have arranged themselves in order of driving capabilities, obviously decided after the races, called as black list and there are 15 of them in that list …….

About Managed Services

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Recently there was news about downtime of many hosts and probably many servers were affected as well. Even I had a website on a host who recently faced a downtime on the server because of the crashed hard disk and network failure. This led to my site being down for more than two days. It not only made me furious about the hosting because , I was not informed about the hard disk crash or even downtime by the hosts so , I tried to find out a managed services
guys who can manage my servers , so that in case of any downtime , I would be able to switch hosts and probably I can get my website back online.

This is not only the case , certain web hosts also need to focus on the pci compliance , issues which were recently issued by Visa and MasterCard so that the information of the credit card holder is not compromised and is not released to anyone unauthorized. So , in order to get more out of the Payment Card Industry Compliance solutions we should be well aware of the hosting solutions that company provide.

Email Marketing what is it ?

Saturday, March 15th, 2008
Some days back I had an email in my mailbox, which had subject as ” Reach out your targeted visitors with ***  *** “. When I read out the email It seemed interesting to me and I clicked out the link , which took me to the desired website but what did I see , I saw that when I hovered upon the link , there was some other website mentioned . What was it ? Actually it is Email Marketing , a process in which you launch a product and  email your customers about the information of the product. How is it done ? This can not be done on your own server where you are hosting your website because sending bulk messages is not permissible on many servers. So what to do ? Nothing you take the help of Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization companies who will deliver your email to your targeted customers  in some time.

Which company to approach to ? Answer would be simple enough .. There are many companies providing the services like this but eventually many fail to achieve their tasks as the cost per email they send comes out to be far more than what you have paid so due to blockage of the emails or spam emails. But with the coming of datadial.net , no more spam email or junk email because the  process they use is such where you email sent out seems to be directed to you and can not be forwarded to bulk. Instead it remains in inbox for you to read. So when ever you have to market your products online through Email then remember Datadial.net so that you get what your money is worth not what other’s are after.
