Gene Upshaw, the president of NFL PA (National Football League Players Association) is dead. Upshaw died after fighting hard against pancreatic cancer. 
At 8:30 a.m. Eastern, the NFL has confirmed the death of Gene Upshaw
Upshaw was a hall of famer and played as offensive guard with the Los Angeles Raiders and the Oakland form the year 1967 until the year 1981. Being one of the most talented players to ever play the game he has the distinction to be a 7 time Pro Bowl Selection and 11 times All Pro Selection. He also played in three Super Bowl Events and won two of them.
Upshaw during his tenure as President of NFLPA helped the players in securing a free agency for them. He managed to keep the players union unified during the strike of 1987. He also ensured that players got larger share of the leagues revenue.
He was a champion all his life and nobody ever knew that he was ill. People who are close to him tell that he had never complained about any issues with his health.
Upshaw is survived by his wife, Terri, and sons, Daniel, Justin, and Eugene Jr.
