NMAT 2008 : The Pattern and Last Year’s cut offs
This year’s NMAT had 150 questions from 3 sections. Each correct question yielded 1 marks while each wrong question attracted a penalty of 0.25 marks.
As we discussed in our last post NMAT is a test of speed and accuracy and the same pattern was followed this year as well. The questions in quant , DI and LR were very easy to solve. There was harldy any question that can be categorised as moderate or difficult.
English section did have moderately hard synonmym section and fill in the blank section.
Last year cut off for NMAT was 86 marks
NMAT 2008 Probable Cut Offs
With over 83.33 % weightage to the NMAT score in selection procedure, just qualifying cut offs is not enough . Since the difficulty level remained the same , it is almost sure that cut offs would stay the same or at best may be a mark or two less.
Here is what Major Coaching Institutes have to say about the cut offs.
TIME : 88 -92
IMS : Not updated yet
Career Launcher : 84+
PT Education : 80+
Career Forum: 87 +

Pretty tough to predict . A score of 80 might not be enough if we assume that NMIMS will issue call in the same ration as it did last year.
NMIMS has been know to issue call based on NMAT scores for a start and using the profile in later stages of admission .

Very tough to tell. If all your attempts yield +1 you are surely in but even if your accuracy slides down to 95% , a call may be difficult .
Lets hope you do get a call.

It is going to be around 85 marks. I really doubt that it would go any higher than that .

It is pretty hard to predict. We are not expecting it to be lower than last year unless NMIMS decides to earn some cash by sending out more calls. ( they charge for interviews as well

Hi,
I have attempted 31 in Verbal, 37 in Quant and 30 in Reasoning. I feel my accuracy in the 3 sections is Verbal – 85%, Quant 95% and Reasoning 90%. Which means I am expecting around 24 to 26 in Verbal, 34.5 in Quant and 26 in Reasoning. Totalling up at around 85.
I know this score might or might not get me the interview call, but if it does, then what are the other parameters that are considered by NMIMS in the latter stages like Work Ex (15 months as of today), Acads (Xth – 88, XII – 89, BE – 70), Extra Curricular (National Level Awards, District Level Participation, Posts Like VP, Secretary, Treasurer in Rotaract).
How much will these achievements hold good in the final selection? Also what are the other parameters that are considered/judged in the interview process.
Thanks and Regards,
Gaurav Kale
