Affiliate Marketing does not require any technical know-how, but it requires you to know about something that you are going to start. It is one of the easiest ways to set up an online business because there are no physical products that you have to offer.
The total overhead for an Affiliate Marketer is low as compared to a full-fledged business because he/she is just promoting the products on his/her website and there are plenty of products that you can offer under a single website.
An Affiliate marketing website is created by a person like you and me to sell the products or services that are originally created by any other business entity. When the end-consumers purchase through your affiliate marketing website, the product owner will give you a commission.
Today We will learn how to set up your own Affiliate Marketing Website in 5 Steps.
These are some of the things which I have learned over time and it may or may not differ from your Affiliate Marketing website set up, but it remains more or less the same.
1. Market or Niche Selection
The process of a good Affiliate Marketing website starts from selection of a good and healthy niche, where
- Niche is profitable in long-term
- Make sure you like the niche.
- The niche should be active
- People should spend money
Basically, you should select a high paying niche with less competition and since you have to work in the niche you should also like the niche.
Niche Selection is the key to making high affiliate commissions in the long-term, if you choose a low paying niche or non-active niche then even if you work hard you might not get good commissions out of the website you create.
You can search for your niche by using various tools like SEMRush, Google Adwords Planner, Amazon Trends etc. Whatever you do you should choose it very carefully.
2. Platform Selection
Since we are dealing with Affiliate Marketing Website, so we have to set up our Website and to set up the site we need to choose a publishing platform. There are many platforms which can be used but you should choose
- is easy to operate
- is easy to modify
- is easy to add files
- is easy to set up
Typically, many affiliate marketers choose WordPress as their platform because it fulfills all the necessary checkpoints mentioned above. You can modify any WordPress theme as per your choice and change the look of the website altogether.
3. Content Selection
An affiliate website does not need regularly updated content but it needs evergreen content. The evergreen content is a good content which will result in good search engine rankings without any drastic change due to the age of an article.
You can get content from many freelancing websites or if you have time then you can write the content yourself.
To get an idea about content, you should browse other websites in the same niche as well as search on various other channels for the keywords.
Always try to update your content if you feel the site is not getting enough search results that you expected.
4. Promote Products and Services
As you have selected a niche and also selected platform to run the Affiliate Marketing website. You have gathered quite a lot of content and written on your website. Now comes the turn of promoting products.
You can promote products in your niche from various sources like
Suppose you start a website with Halloween Costumes in mind, you get your content and then look for any affiliate programs which are related to Halloween Costumes. They should also serve your target country.
As I mentioned earlier in one of my posts, I made an Affiliate Marketing blog with Halloween Costumes in mind and found various affiliate programs in PepperJam and Amazon to promote. You can also find the same type of products in one or another Affiliate Marketing Programs.
5. Get Traffic
If you have an Affiliate website in a particular niche, you need to get traffic to your website initially until it ranks in search engines. This could be a long process but you can get traffic to your website from
- Facebook Advertisements
- Google Adwords
- Twitter Advertisements
You can also get traffic if you are involved in different forums where the niche is discussed, have created a specific Facebook page about the topic and also created community topics to help people.
You should also try to get more keywords related to your niche so as to get more content written on your website/blog. You can also try to send emails to newsletters that you have gathered but with proper permission.
There are various companies that are pretty much happy to pay affiliates around the globe to promote their products. This way they not only save their money in promoting but also generate additional revenue.
You can earn quite a lot of revenue, if you stay focussed, choose the right niche to promote and be dedicated towards it, otherwise, you will burn your money in promoting and no one from your audience will ever purchase a product.
